The Locker Plant served the company owned town of Scotia, home of The Pacific Lumber Company, since the 1920s. Unused for many years, its removal is part of a land renovation project that will result in a new soccer field for the growing Hispanic population of PL workers in the town. We carefully dismantled the building which was made from the very finest old growth redwood, a material that PL had in abundance at the time. In those days, industrial concerns built for longevity, knowing that it was the best use of resources and finances. The roof planking was clear, all heart 2x8 tongue and groove, the rafters clear and #1 grade 2x6 and 2x8. The foundation structure was full dimension, clear or with small tight knots, 12x12.
