Remilled Timbers

These photos show a number of timbers that we custom milled for customers. The original reclaimed redwood timbers had different exterior appearances. In some cases, the bolt and nail holes show through in the remilled timber. Noitce that some cracks, or checks, remain in the finished timber. Also, notice that discolorations do remain.

The distressed nature of the timber may or may not be apparent. Some of these particular pieces are installed in a house overlooking the Pacific Ocean, some are part of a garden trellis structure. Remilled timbers may be suitable for fireplace mantles, large door or window framing, or wherever the tight grain quality of redwood can be shown to its best advantage.

Prices for remilled timbers is determined by price of feedstock timber plus the cost of remilling. So if you seek a 10x10 timber, we will begin with a 12x12 and cut it to size.

Pricing

There is a commercial airport in Arcata (serviced by United Express and Horizon Airlines) and several non-commercial airfields in the Eureka area.  If you plan to fly in, let us know and we will pick you up.
